During my second nursing contract in Yukon this summer, I spent as much time as I could just driving around and taking in as much of the Territory as I could. I was born and raised in South-Western Ontario, so the terrain of Yukon was absolutely surreal to me. I was in love with every inch of it. While driving aimlessly down the Alaska Highway, I spotted my first Grizzly. He happened to be in the most picturesque area I've ever seen. Camera in hand, I nervously stepped out of my car and caught this picture over the hood. The bear was sniffing at me, as curious about me as I was of him. We watched each other for a few minutes, until the lure of food was more interesting to my new-found friend. Never the less, I look at this picture often and remember the magic of the Canadian Territories.
